KUALA LUMPUR: The Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia, Walid Abu Ali, has confirmed that the woman appearing in a recently viral apology video is one of the two Palestinian women involved in an altercation with security officers at Wisma Transit, Kuala Lumpur.

In a brief statement to Bernama on Sunday (Oct 6), he said, “Yes, that is the woman.”

“In the video, she acknowledges her mistake and has apologised to the officer and to Malaysia. She admitted that she was emotionally unstable on the day of the incident,” he said.

On Oct 4, Bernama reported that the incident, which went viral this week, had been resolved and the Palestinian Embassy here has taken steps to ensure such incidents do not recur.

The altercation occurred due to the woman’s frustration at not being allowed to leave the centre freely for security reasons.

“I condemn what happened, and it should not happen again,” said Walid, reiterating his regret over the incident.

He also apologised to all Malaysians, stating that the behaviour displayed in the incident does not reflect that of Palestinians generally.

“We do not wish to prolong this issue. On behalf of Palestine, I once again apologise to all Malaysians,” he said. – Bernama
