KUALA LUMPUR: Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh has emphasized the need for Malaysia to continue its assertive diplomacy in response to the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestine. He, as the head of the Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine, also condemned Israel’s apartheid against the Palestinians. Noh stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim Anwar has already expressed Malaysia’s stance, considering the events in Palestine as a form of politics involving dispossession, where people are being denied their rights and land. Malaysia aims for the restoration of land and rights to Palestinians.
Noh, who belongs to the Pakatan Harapan party, further called on relevant countries to sever ties with Israel and ensure that the RM100mil aid from Malaysia to Palestine reaches those in need. In the Dewan Rakyat, Prime Minister Anwar stated that he would address the Palestine crisis during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia for the Asean and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit on October 19. He also expressed willingness to discuss the matter with peers from UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, and potentially meet with other world leaders to discuss the Israel-Palestine conflict.
