Perikatan Nasional has announced that businessman Zulkifli Jaafar will be their candidate for the Pulai parliamentary seat by-election. Additionally, Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya will be their candidate for the Simpang Jeram state seat. This announcement was made by Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the coalition’s Pulai by-election operations room on Wednesday (Aug 23).
Zulkifli, who is 50 years old, represents Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia. Dr Mohd Mazri, who is 54 years old, represents PAS.
These two seats became vacant following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23. Salahuddin Ayub was not only the Pulai Member of Parliament but also the Simpang Jeram assemblyman and the domestic trade and cost of living minister.
Earlier, on August 19, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu revealed that former Johor state assembly speaker Suhaizan Kaiat, 50, will be contesting for the Pulai seat. Moreover, Bakri Amanah deputy chief Nazri Abdul Rahma, 56, will be contesting for the Simpang Jeram seat.
