Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow revealed that phase one of the new Gurney Bay is now open to the public following an announcement he made. He made this announcement while accompanying Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak for a walkabout on Sunday (Feb 4).
Chow Kon Yeow said, “Works at Gurney Bay phase one have been declared complete and it will be open to the public from today,” during the announcement on Sunday.
Gurney Bay (formerly known as Gurney Wharf) is a 20.2ha area located next to the fringe of Gurney Drive. The RM200mil project features a range of facilities such as a children’s play area, skate park, viewing deck (south), public toilets, promenade for pedestrians, hawker stalls, retail areas and recreation park, hawker kiosks, open parking area and a water body (south).
