In Tawau town on Sabah’s east coast, a tragic accident occurred when a motorcycle carrying three people was hit by a taxi at a road intersection. The pillion rider, a 33-year-old woman, was killed instantly, while her 45-year-old husband and their seven-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Tawau district hospital for treatment.
Following the accident, the 68-year-old taxi driver, who emerged uninjured, was arrested. Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin confirmed the details of the accident, which occurred at Ranggu Saujana around 7am on Sunday, December 24th.
According to ACP Hussin, initial investigations revealed that the taxi driver, who hails from Tanjung Batu, was making a turn towards Ranggu Saujana to meet a friend when he collided with the oncoming motorcycle. The police are continuing their investigation into the case, seeking to uncover more details about the sequence of events that led to the tragic collision.
