The PlayStation Network (PSN) is currently suffering from a service disruption, leaving gamers unable to sign in, play multiplayer games online, and access the digital PlayStation Store.
Outage-tracking website DownDetector recorded a surge in user reports at around 9am Malaysia time, with over 88,000 complaints over the disruption.
The outage has also rendered titles requiring an always-online connection unplayable, with users encountering an error message when attempting to launch them. Gamers are still able to access titles that do not require an Internet connection.
Sony is aware of the ongoing issue, with the official PlayStation Network service status webpage stating that the outage started today (Oct 1) at 9.21am, though the timezone is unclear.
At the time of writing, Sony has not released any statements on the reason for the outage.
