KUALA LUMPUR: On World Mental Health Day 2023, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the public to end the stigma surrounding mental health problems. Anwar, wearing a green ribbon pin as a symbol of mental health awareness, made this call during the Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 10).

“Mental health belongs to everyone, so let’s stop the stigma. The green ribbon I’m wearing is an international symbol of mental health. Happy World Mental Health Day 2023,” he stated.

Several Members of Parliament were also spotted wearing green ribbons, showing their support for the mental health awareness campaign.

During the announcement of the motion on the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar revealed that the government plans to establish a mental health institute to address the growing concerns regarding mental health in the country. – Bernama
