The National Action Council for Cost of Living (Naccol) has been given a deadline of March 20 to find solutions to the padi and rice price problems, according to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Speaking at the conclusion of the central zone Madani Rakyat programme in Kuala Selangor on Sunday (Feb 25), the Prime Minister disclosed that he had directed the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry to initiate more Rahmah Sales and Agro Madani Sales nationwide.
Touching on the issue of the weakening ringgit in his address, Anwar noted that this trend was not exclusive to Malaysia, as it was affecting other currencies in the region such as the Japanese yen, Chinese renminbi, and all other Asean currencies except for the Singapore dollar.
With a promise of more updates to follow, Anwar left the audience with anticipation for further developments on the matters discussed.
