The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced that Poland has rejected a joint statement on migration at the end of the European Union’s informal summit in Granada. However, the joint statement will still address the issue of the bloc’s enlargement.
Morawiecki expressed his rejection of the entire paragraph regarding migration in the summit conclusions, stating that he does so as a responsible politician. He made this statement on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
In response to Poland’s rejection, European Council President Charles Michel will issue a separate statement specifically addressing the issue of migration.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated earlier that the disagreement expressed by Poland and Hungary on the EU migration policy does not necessarily mean that it will impede any final agreement on the matter.
Reporting on the matter was done by Gabriela Baczynska and Inti Landauro, with the writing done by David Latona. The article was edited by Andrei Khalip.
