According to the Polish army, a search operation for suspected Russian rocket parts violating Poland’s airspace was being renewed on Saturday. The object allegedly entered from the direction of Ukraine on Friday morning, prompting the search effort in the Lublin Voivodeship.
The Polish army’s operational command announced on social media that “a ground search will be carried out in the Lublin Voivodeship for possible elements of the object that violated Polish airspace yesterday.”
The search aimed to confirm definitively whether any part of the object remained on Polish territory, as stated by the military officials. They also noted that the object had left Polish airspace within three minutes of entering and that the Ukrainian side and allies had initially confirmed the radar records showing the object’s departure.
The search was scheduled to continue until 1900 GMT, following an overnight pause. Approximately 480 soldiers from the Territorial Defense Force were designated to participate in the search near the city of Zamosc in southeastern Poland.
On Friday evening, Poland’s foreign ministry summoned the Russian charge d’affaires and demanded an explanation for the airspace violation by a guided missile. No further details regarding the outcome of the meeting with the Russian charge d’affaires were provided in the report.
