Two policemen who have been accused of raping a private college student and extorting money from her male companion are set to be charged at the Ampang Court on Wednesday (Jan 17), according to Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
Hussein Omar Khan stated that the duo will be facing charges as directed by the Deputy Public Prosecutor, with one of the policemen being charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code and the other facing charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, Section 377C KK, Section 377CA KK, and Section 376(1) KK.
Both officers have been suspended from their duties immediately and will be taken to court at about 2pm on Wednesday, said Hussein Omar Khan in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 16) night. He emphasized that the police force will not tolerate any wrongdoing by its officers and will ensure transparent investigations into the matter.
“They will be charged in court at about 2pm on Wednesday. Both have been suspended from their duties immediately,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 16) night.
He added that police will not compromise with any officer or personnel involved in criminal activities or misconduct and that investigations would be carried out in a transparent manner.
On Jan 11, two police officers affiliated with the Selangor police were apprehended in connection to the extortion and rape of a private college student in Bukit Ampang View, Kuala Lumpur, according to Bernama.
