PETALING JAYA: Poor communication and contradictory statements from the government are giving a big headache to the people, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“In December 2020, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the government needed more time to bring down the price of diesel. However, the government increased the price of diesel in the end,” said Dr Wee.

He added that the Prime Minister said in February 2023 that the government is not planning to increase taxes, but increased the sales and service (SST) tax from 6% to 8%, combined with imposition of new taxes.

“In June, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he is not planning to increase the national debt, but the debt increased by another RM129bil within 15 months of the Madani government being in power,” said Dr Wee.

“In January, Rafizi said the Central Database Hub (Padu) will be the sole database for targeted subsidies, but in May announced that Budi Madani will be the database for the purpose,” he added in a Facebook video on Monday (June 10).

“Why the confusion, if Padu is already there? Why the need for Budi, where personal data has to be filled all over again,” asked the Ayer Hitam MP.

Dr Wee then commented on the sale of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) involving a company which is 100% held by Blackrock through a Zionist entity (GIP).

He said that while the Prime Minister said it was not true, the sale was confirmed by Khazanah and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

Dr Wee then added that Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had said in May that it is untrue that Asia Mobility Technologies – which belongs to the husband of a Cabinet Minister – clinched a government contract.

“However, two days later the same minister questioned what is wrong if the company was given a contract, if it followed the necessary procedures. In short, there has been a slew of U-turns, confusion and contradictory action and statements from the government,” he said.

“When there is an official spokesman for the government, communication should be much more effective, but here it is in total disarray adding to all the confusion which is happening,” added Dr Wee.
