LISBON, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) — TAP, the Portuguese airline, has announced that it achieved record profits of 203.5 million euros (215.7 million U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2023. The company stated that in the third quarter alone, it earned 180.5 million euros, the highest quarterly profit since records began.
TAP’s net profit for the third quarter of 2023 increased by 69.2 million euros compared to the same period in 2022 and 179.4 million euros compared to the third quarter of 2019. This growth demonstrates the airline’s remarkable performance.
The airline experienced a 5.2 percent increase in the number of passengers during the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Additionally, it operated 5.7 percent more flights than it did last year.
TAP’s passenger volume has also shown substantial recovery, reaching 90 percent of its pre-pandemic levels. The number of operated flights has reached 86 percent of the pre-pandemic levels as well. These figures indicate a significant rebound for the airline industry.
