A tragic accident on the Pasir Gudang Highway resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and injury to her sister when their car collided with an electric panel box at KM19.2.
According to Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, the accident occurred at 12.40am last Sunday (Jan 7) when the car, driven by a 30-year-old woman, was traveling towards Pasir Gudang.
It was revealed that the vehicle had been traveling from Tebrau and may have lost control before crashing into the panel box at the road divider.
While the driver sustained minor injuries, the 28-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital,” he stated on Tuesday (Jan 9).
Tragically, the victim was nine months pregnant, exacerbating the loss.
Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
An unverified Facebook post by a user, Puven Rajandran, went viral, claiming that the vehicle veered to avoid potholes on the Pasir Gudang Highway.
