Prudential Financial Inc disclosed that a cybercrime group managed to access some of its IT systems and a small portion of user accounts linked to employees and contractors.
The Newark, New Jersey-based insurer stated that there is no proof yet that any customer or client data was stolen. Prudential is collaborating with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to address the situation. The unauthorised access occurred on Feb 4, and Prudential discovered the breach the next day.
“We continue to investigate the extent of the incident, including whether the threat actor accessed any additional information or systems, to determine the impact of the incident,” Prudential said.
The company stated, “The incident has not had a material impact on the company’s operations, and the company has not determined the incident is reasonably likely to materially impact the company’s financial condition or results of operations.” – Bloomberg
