IN a digital age where phishing scams are as common as fish in the sea, it’s easy to feel like a sitting duck. Recently, there have been reports of scammers impersonating BSN representatives asking for account details via phone calls, SMS and emails. Is this true?

    Verdict:

    TRUE

BSN has cautioned the public to be wary of unsolicited phone calls, SMS and emails from individuals claiming to be the bank’s representatives and requesting account details.

“Users should refrain from revealing any account/credit/debit card information to unknown parties.

“BSN will not request personal information from customers via phone calls, SMS, or email.

“If you have any doubts about the caller’s identity, phone number, or email, please contact BSN’s Customer Contact Centre at 1300-88-1900 for verification,” it said in a Facebook post.

It also advised customers to immediately report any unauthorised or suspicious transactions to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) by calling 997.
