    TRUE

Swift action by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) successfully saved 21 pupils from the Community Development Department (Kemas) nursery along Jalan Hulu Klang, Batu 8 here on Tuesday (Oct 15), when flash floods hit.

Selangor JBPM assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar told the Malay language daily Sinar Harian that they received the distress call at 10:28 am.

He said a team from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the location, it was found that four houses and a Kemas nursery were affected by the flooding.

“The fire department instructed the residents to move to the community hall, while 21 Kemas nursery pupils were handed over to their respective parents,” he said in a statement Tuesday.

He added that there were also four teachers present at the nursery premises, saying that monitoring at the location showed that the water level was decreasing.
