Many people believe that taking care of your feet is crucial for overall happiness and well-being. However, one local company seems to have exaggerated the benefits of their socks, claiming that they hold the secret to a healthier life. In fact, they have gone as far as stating that their socks are endorsed by the Health Ministry, and that unsatisfied customers can even receive a refund. But is there any truth to these claims?
According to the Health Ministry, the answer is a resounding “no.” In response to the company’s social media advert, the Health Ministry released a statement on both its Facebook and Twitter accounts, clarifying that it has not certified the socks as a health product. The ministry expressed its disappointment with the misleading nature of the advert and emphasized that the company had misused its name.
The Health Ministry specifically highlighted the false claim made by the company regarding a refund promise, stating, “This can lead to confusion among the public since the ministry did not certify the product.” It urged the public to refrain from sharing such misinformation and advised them to rely on trusted platforms for accurate information.
The ministry also warned that legal action would be taken against those involved in spreading false information with malicious intent and for the sole purpose of profit. Under Sections 211 and 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, distributing false information containing misunderstandings and untrue content is considered a serious offense.
