Ah, fishing. A classic way to escape the stresses of everyday life and connect with nature.

As you cast your line and wait for the fish to bite, you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the outdoors.

Whether or not you catch any fish, the experience of being out in nature is what truly matters.

However, for two anglers, a peaceful day of fishing turned into a heated argument that was caught on video and went viral.

The video showed the men arguing over accusations of trespassing while fishing in a river.

But did the incident really happen as shown in the video?

    VERDICT:

    TRUE

Segamat OCPD Supt Ahmad Zamry Marinsah confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday (Jan 22) and both men have lodged a police report.

“Two police reports have been lodged regarding a viral video involving two river fishermen quarrelling on a boat at Sungai Lubok Kepong, Kampung Lubok Kepong, here.

“However, both individuals have agreed to resolve their misunderstanding peacefully and have decided not to take further action.

“Our investigation revealed that the quarrel occurred following a miscommunication between the two individuals.

“We have also organised a meeting together with the Segamat Fisheries Department, the village chief, and the two men to iron out their misunderstanding,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday (Jan 23).

Supt Ahmad Zamry added that members of the public are urged to stop creating any further speculation as the case has been resolved.

Earlier, a four-minute and 25-second video was uploaded on Facebook under the username Asrul Torol Nyaleh, showing two fishermen quarrelling on a boat.
