Music fans love live performances, and musicians owe their success to their loyal supporters.
Is it true that Metallica is the only band to have performed in all seven continents, including Antarctica?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Metallica is indeed the only act to have performed live on all seven continents, including Antarctica where they played to a crowd of 120 scientists and competition winners.
According to Billboard.com, the band performed an hour-long set inside a transparent dome erected close to the heliport of Carlini Scientific Base.
In the “Freeze ‘Em All” concert, a 120-person crowd including winners from a South American sweepstakes sponsored by Coca-Cola Zero, and a handful of scientists from various nations were inside the dome rocking to the band back in 2013.
Weather conditions did not deter the band led by frontman James Hetfield from putting on an amazing rock-and-roll show for their diehard fans.
The band also achieved a Guiness World Record for their show in Antarctica.
Having performed in Antarctica, this makes Metallica the only musical act to perform on all seven continents with tour dates in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
With their brand of music that caters to rock and metal-heads across the globe, it is not a wonder that they are the most in-demand rock band in history having played 1,600 shows in their lifetime.
Rock on, legends!
