In today’s world, scams are becoming increasingly common, with scammers bombarding individuals with calls and messages in attempts to deceive them.
Despite the dubious nature of these schemes, one must acknowledge the scammers’ persistence and creativity in devising new methods to swindle unsuspecting victims.
Recently, a new scam tactic has come to light, involving an individual posing as a US permanent resident and using fake letters supposedly from the National Security Council (NSC) to swindle money from people.
Is there any truth to these claims of fraudulent activity?
VERDICT:
TRUE
According to the NSC, an individual by the name of “John Thomas” has been falsely representing the council and duping unsuspecting individuals into giving him money.
“We have received reports about this individual using our name and logo to solicit funds from others,” stated the NSC in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Feb 27).
