When we were younger, many of us may have entertained the notion of “multiplying” our meager pocket money in order to afford the latest material desires. However, as enticing as this idea may have been, we were also aware of the criminality of such an act.
So, is it really impossible to copy money?
Verdict:
TRUE
In reality, even if we desired to print our own banknotes, no printers or scanners in the world would allow us to engage in such illegal activities because they simply cannot recognize the authenticity of the currency.
This is due to the presence of hidden symbols embedded in the currency, known as the EURion Constellation, which appear as circles in a pattern of stars.
For example, these symbols may resemble musical notes on British pounds or flowers on Japanese yen.
In 2002, computer scientist and researcher Markus Kuhn made this discovery while attempting to print a 10 Euro note during an experiment.
Naturally, his attempt failed. Kuhn then encountered a message printed in different languages, declaring the printing of money as illegal.
However, the originator of this ingenious concept remains a mystery to this day. One thing is certain, though – it was conceived as a measure to combat counterfeiting.
