When a body is found in a severely decomposed state, identifying it can be a challenging task for authorities. This difficulty is further compounded when scavenging animals have consumed parts of the body.
Recently, in Perak, it was reported that a partially-eaten body was discovered.

The Hilir Perak OCPD, Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri, confirmed that a man’s body, suspected of being partially eaten by a monitor lizard, was found on Jalan Maharajalela in Teluk Intan. The discovery was made by the public on Monday at 12:05pm.
“Initial investigations revealed several bite marks on the victim’s body, with the face partly missing. The victim was found naked and trapped by a log in the river. No identification documents were found at the scene,” he stated.
ACP Ahmad Adnan mentioned that the exact time of death was still under investigation.
The body was transferred to Hospital Teluk Intan, but due to the advanced decomposition, conducting a post-mortem examination proved to be challenging.
“At present, the case is being treated as sudden death, pending further evidential discoveries,” he added.
Individuals who are missing family members were encouraged to reach out to the police for assistance.
