SUPERHEROES – an iconic term for those who stand ready to protect the innocent no matter the circumstance but who will stand for superheroes when they’re vigilante antics are finally put to an end by the cops?

This seemingly became a reality after a video went viral of a man dressed as Batman was being arrested by police near a school allegedly in Johor.

The video, which has reached nearly three million views on TikTok alone, left many fans wondering what the masked hero did to get himself in trouble with the law.

So is it true, was “Batman” arrested in Johor?

    Verdict:

    FALSE

A quick check showed that the “Batman” that went viral is a popular local cosplayer, known as Batman Malaysia Dark Knight, who frequently makes guest appearances at events.

The video that has gotten so much attention online is actually of a recent event at a school in Johor and the whole arrest sequence was part of a gimmick.

The school in question was at SK Parit Bunga Tangkak in Muar, which was holding a Children’s Day celebration festival on Sunday (Aug 18).

The cosplayer said he had been scheduled to make a special appearance during the festival to liven up the festivities for the superhero loving children.

The festival included a police exhibition to demonstrate how criminals were apprehended, which included the fake “arrest” of Batman Malaysia much to the amusement of the children and Malaysians online.

The video has since drawn a massive flurry of hilarious comments online with some Malaysians even comparing the masked vigilante with iconic Malaysian superhero, Kluang Man.

“Must have been reported by Kluang Man for trying to take over his job,” wrote Tiktok user Bangteh Mudzaffar.

“Gotham police can’t catch him but PDRM can…Malaysia Boleh,” wrote Jan Lee in the Facebook video’s comment section.
