GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) ordered three food outlets in Tanjung Bungah to be closed for 14 days after inspections found rat droppings in their respective premises yesterday.

MBPP, in a statement, said it carried out inspections at the three outlets and found that the cleanliness of all the premises was unsatisfactory.

“MBPP performed a thorough check in the kitchen, washing area, food storage area, and drains before finding rat excrement in several locations.

“Accordingly, the three premises were ordered to be closed immediately yesterday for 14 days,” MBPP said in a post on its Facebook on Friday (Sept 13).

MBPP said besides failing to provide a scheduled pest control check, inspections on the oil trap found that the operators also did not comply with the cleaning schedule, resulting in drainage problems and clogged public drains. – Bernama
