KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police has stated that social media content provider Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, who is known as Ratu Naga, did not cooperate with the police despite showing up at Bukit Aman on Monday, October 31, to have her statement recorded. Her statement was recorded, but she refused to answer the 33 questions that were asked. In addition to this, the police also seized her cellphone and SIM card. This comes after Ratu Naga made a social media post that was alleged to defame the Prime Minister’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Razarudin, the Inspector-General of Police, has stated that the lack of cooperation from Ratu Naga is an offense under Section 249 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. As a result, the police did not obtain any useful information related to the case. Razarudin further emphasized that Ratu Naga’s refusal to cooperate is a serious offense.
Syarul Ema Rena arrived at Bukit Aman, accompanied by her lawyer Zaid Malek, to give her statement to the classified crime investigation unit. This statement was in relation to an Instagram and TikTok post that allegedly defamed Dr. Wan Azizah. The Bandar Tun Razak PKR had lodged a police report against three social media users, including Ratu Naga, for posting defamatory content against Dr. Wan Azizah, who is also the constituency’s MP.
