KOTA KINABALU: A search and rescue operation has been launched for a 48-year-old Indonesian man who is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile at a river in Kinabatangan on Wednesday (Feb 7).
The Fire and Rescue Department initiated the search after receiving a call from police that the victim was possibly attacked by the reptile while fishing on the river along Ladang Linddale, Paris 2 there.
“The report came at 6.39am and the team from Kinabatangan fire station travelled 101km to the location.”
“Upon arrival, they set up the operation with the assistance of the police, Sabah Wildlife Department personnel and villagers, they conducted surface search using civilian boats for 8km along the river.”
“The victim has yet to be found and the operation will continue tomorrow,” said the department spokesman.
