The Federal Government has given the green light for road repairs in Johor, with a total of RM168mil approved for the project. Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed his gratitude to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi for approving the infrastructure improvement projects, aimed at providing better comfort and safety for road users in the state.
The approved projects include RM120mil to upgrade FT003 (Jalan Johor Baru – Mersing), a RM39mil project to repair roads damaged by the 2023-2024 north-east monsoon, and road repairs along Jalan Felda Ulu Tebrau costing RM9mil.
Onn Hafiz also mentioned that during a meeting with the ministry in Kuala Lumpur, they discussed other road improvement projects for Johor. He also highlighted that Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and state works, transportation, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh were part of the meeting with Nanta and his team.
Furthermore, Onn Hafiz expressed his hope that the ministry will consider Johor’s other proposals in preparation for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and Visit Johor Year 2026 campaign, as he now helms the state’s tourism portfolio.
He emphasized that all efforts to improve connectivity and road safety would ultimately benefit the people.
