Penang police have conducted a series of six raids over a span of four days, resulting in the seizure of RM2.06 million worth of drugs and equipment. Four local men, aged 27 to 33, were arrested in various locations, according to Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.
The majority of the drugs were found in a double storey house in Bayan Lepas, which was being used as a processing lab. In addition, some drugs were discovered stored in vehicle boots. The confiscated drugs include 49 slabs of heroin base weighing 18.4kg worth RM1.595 million, 87 packets of heroin weighing 23.38kg worth RM194,000, and two packets of syabu weighing 1.5kg worth RM49,700.
Furthermore, six cars and two motorcycles worth RM157,500 were seized, along with four packets of caffeine powder weighing 94kg worth RM32,100, RM1,660 in cash, jewelry worth RM32,435, and various equipment such as cooking utensils and chemicals.
Authorities believe that the syndicate has been operating since early this year, using the house as a distribution center for the local market. The police are currently trying to track down the owner of the property. Although all the suspects tested negative for drugs, two of them have a history of drug and criminal offenses, according to Khaw.
All four suspects have been remanded for seven days until October 27.
