The Education Ministry has set aside RM6 million to construct a temporary cabin to replace the old building of SK Perigi Acheh in Pasir Gudang, Johor. According to Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin, development is expected to commence in June and conclude by early December. The decision to close the school in July 2021 due to structural issues necessitated the relocation of students to nearby SK Tanjung Langsat.
Aznan stated, “We anticipate that the school will reopen in January next year.” He also mentioned that the development plan consists of two phases, which include the construction of the temporary cabin and soil treatment work. The temporary cabin will be constructed using a skeleton frame and cement board, with an estimated lifespan of seven to nine years.
At present, the school has 105 students and 12 teachers. The Johor government has allocated RM50,000 to facilitate the transfer of students to the new school once it opens. Furthermore, Aznan revealed that the Johor government has submitted a request to the Education Ministry for the construction of a permanent school building under the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan for the year 2025.
