In an effort to enhance safety for Felda settlers, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has allocated RM7.7 million annually for operating streetlights in their areas. This allocation is expected to illuminate dark streets, reduce accidents, and ensure the well-being of residents.
The announcement, made during the recent Felda Settlers’ Day celebration, reflects the government’s commitment to improving the community’s livelihood.
Mera Ali, a second-generation Felda Tenggaroh 2 settler, hopes that the installed lights effectively illuminate the areas around residents’ houses, especially during the night and heavy rain. He also highlights the lack of sufficient lights and poor road conditions in Felda areas.
For Mursina Zainuddin, a resident of Felda Tenggaroh Timur 01, the government’s initiative to prioritize the settlers’ safety is appreciated. She suggests installing more lights in areas prone to accidents at night and where farm animals roam, as this can help prevent accidents.
Azemi, a 65-year-old settler, expresses gratitude to the government for providing these facilities and comfort to the Felda community. He emphasizes the importance of well-lit areas for early morning and night activities, such as walking to work or the mosque. Additionally, proper lighting can help reduce theft and create a livelier atmosphere at night.
