KUALA LANGAT: Three robbery suspects rammed into a police vehicle during their arrest at a residential area in Telok Panglima Garang here.
This forced the police officers on duty to fire shots at the suspects’ vehicle tires during the incident on Friday, reported Sinar Harian.
Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh, said they had earlier received a call at 2.40pm, informing them that their neighbour’s house had been broken into.
He said following the report, police officers on motorcycles were dispatched to the scene.
“The suspects, who were in a SUV, rammed into the motorcycles ridden by the police officers during their arrest at the scene.
“Following that, the police officers fired a shot at the suspects’ vehicle tires in self-defence,” he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 23).
The suspects then fled the scene.
Supt Ahmad said investigations found that the suspects are three local men who had been involved in the break-in at the residential area.
“Efforts to track down and apprehend the suspects are actively ongoing,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
