The Muda deputy president, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, has been blacklisted due to the de-registration of her previous organization, Persatuan Ekonomi Merdeka, by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
The ROS issued a notice on October 28, 2022, under Section 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act of 1966 (Act 832), which binds Amira Aisya under Section 49 of the same Act.
In response to Amira Aisya’s claim that she is blacklisted from holding office in any registered organization, the ROS clarified that her statement is not entirely true.
According to the ROS, the de-registration of Persatuan Ekonomi Merdeka was conducted in accordance with the investigative processes and the law.
On September 1, the High Court granted Amira Aisya’s application to challenge the ROS’s decision to blacklist her from holding any position in registered societies.
She is now seeking a court order to declare that the ROS does not possess the power under the Societies Act 1966 to blacklist her.
