France secured a 20-16 victory over Scotland in the Six Nations Championship at Murrayfield on Saturday, thanks to a dazzling solo score by winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey. The win brought relief for coach Fabien Galthie.
Bielle-Biarrey’s remarkable play saw him surrounded by three defenders, but his clever chip and chase, combined with lightning pace, allowed him to gather the ball and score. Fullback Thomas Ramos’ conversion gave the visitors the lead for the first time.
Ramos also kicked a penalty for France, while centre Gael Fickou scored another try, resulting in La Marseillaise ringing around the ground. This victory marked a comeback for France after a disappointing 38-17 defeat in their opening game against Ireland.
Although Scotland dominated much of the match and held a 13-10 lead at halftime thanks to a try by scrumhalf Ben White, they struggled to convert pressure into points. In the final moments of the game, Scotland were held up over the French line after a lengthy TMO review.
