(Reuters) – Scotland has brought prop Javan Sebastian and flyhalf Ross Thompson into their squad as they prepare for their first Six Nations match against Wales in Cardiff on Saturday. Unfortunately, front row WP Nel is unable to compete due to a neck injury.
The Scotland team is currently training in Spain in anticipation of the match, and Sebastian, who was part of their World Cup squad in France last year, will be stepping in for Nel. Meanwhile, Thompson will be taking the place of Adam Hastings, who withdrew from the squad last week due to a knee injury that will keep him out for the entire Six Nations tournament.
Additionally, uncapped player Euan Ferrie, who can play as a lock or in the back row, and scrumhalf Jamie Dobie are also training with the team, according to officials.
Unfortunately, Nel’s absence due to his neck injury is a blow to the team, but it presents an opportunity for Sebastian to step in and make an impact. With the Six Nations fast approaching, the addition of Thompson will also bolster the team’s options, especially with Hastings out of the picture due to his knee injury.
The inclusion of Ferrie and Dobie in the training squad indicates that the team is keeping their options open and exploring different combinations. Their presence also reflects the depth of talent available to Scotland.
The team is working hard to prepare for the challenging opening match against Wales, and the call-ups of Sebastian and Thompson are indicative of their commitment to assembling the best squad possible for the upcoming Six Nations fixture.
