(Reuters) – Scotland’s Murrayfield stadium will host four autumn international series fixtures in November, featuring world champions South Africa, Australia, Fiji, and Portugal, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday. The series kicks off with a game against Fiji on Nov. 2, followed by a match against South Africa eight days later. Scotland has not beaten the Springboks since 2010, with South Africa claiming victory in their last eight encounters.
Portugal, who impressed at the Rugby World Cup in France last year, will also face South Africa in July before taking on Scotland on Nov. 16. Australia, led by new coach Joe Schmidt, will close out the series on Nov. 24.
Scotland coach Gregor Townsend expressed excitement about facing Fiji and Portugal, noting their fast and open style of play which was showcased at the Rugby World Cup. He also highlighted the significance of playing against South Africa, the reigning world champions, calling it the ultimate test for any team in rugby.
The autumn series fixtures at Murrayfield are as follows (all times in GMT): Nov. 2 against Fiji at 16:40, Nov. 10 against South Africa at 15:10, Nov. 16 against Portugal at 14:10, and Nov. 24 against Australia at 12:40.
