The Russian Defence Ministry has stated that it successfully foiled a recent drone attack on Moscow by intercepting three drones in the early hours of Wednesday. One of the drones collided with a building that was under construction in a central business district, causing minor damage but not injuring anyone. This incident is the latest in a series of similar attacks, prompting temporary flight suspensions at Moscow’s airports. The air defence forces were able to shoot down two of the three drones over the Mozhaisky and Khimki districts in the wider Moscow region. The third drone was brought down using electronic warfare equipment and crashed into a high-rise building in the Moscow City business district. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to the state TASS news agency, the high-rise building sustained damage to its glass panes on three floors. Videos circulating on social media, though unverified, depict minor damage caused by the two other destroyed drones. Following the attempted drone attack, the state aviation authority confirmed that all airports in Moscow were operating normally after the temporary flight suspension.
