Russia’s foreign ministry announced on Saturday that it had called in the Czech Republic’s temporary charge d’affaires in Russia to protest against Prague’s reaction to an airstrike in northeastern Ukraine. The airstrike, which occurred earlier this month, resulted in the deaths of numerous individuals in Hroza.
In response to the recent demarche by the Czech foreign ministry, the Russian diplomat was summoned on October 17. The ministry expressed a firm protest and thoroughly explained Russia’s stance on the situation in Ukraine. This included addressing the allegations made by Prague regarding the alleged involvement of the Russian Armed Forces in the attacks on civilian infrastructure in Hroza, which were dismissed.
Following the attacks, the Kremlin reiterated that the Russian military does not target civilian sites in Ukraine. However, the Russian ministry criticized Prague’s active support for Kyiv.
Shortly after the airstrike, the Czech foreign ministry announced its intention to summon Russia’s ambassador.
