According to a report by state media KCNA, a delegation from Russia’s External Intelligence Bureau visited Pyongyang, North Korea from Monday to Wednesday to discuss enhancing cooperation against spying.
The bureau’s director, Sergei E. Naryshkin, along with North Korean Minister of State Security Ri Chang Dae, exchanged views on the international and regional situation concerning the Korean peninsula and Russia during the meeting.
Additionally, officials from the intelligence bureau and the ministry engaged in working-level discussions during the visit.
Both sides also deliberated on increasing collaboration to counter the escalating spying and hostile activities by outside forces, as mentioned by the state news agency.
Meanwhile, a North Korean delegation led by Kim Song Nam, director of the international department at the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, met with Truong Thi Mai, a permanent member of the secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s central committee in Hanoi on Tuesday.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and enhancing relations between the two countries, as reported by KCNA.
These meetings coincide with North Korea’s efforts to expand its diplomatic engagement following the COVID-19 lockdowns.
