(Reuters) – A Russian missile struck a hotel in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Thursday evening, leaving one dead and 14 injured, according to Ukrainian officials.
National police informed that an Iskander missile hit the city at 7:20 p.m. (1620 GMT).
“Zaporizhzhia. The city suffers daily from Russian shelling. A fire broke out in a civilian building after the occupiers hit it with a missile,” stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Anatoliy Kurtev, Zaporizhzhia city council’s secretary, confirmed that the 14 injured included two children.
Pictures and videos shared by officials revealed a significant crater, wrecked cars, and a severely damaged four-storey building with a hotel sign.
According to local media reports, the affected building is the Reikartz Hotel located in the city center on the bank of the Dnipro River.
This incident marked the second strike on Zaporizhzhia in two consecutive days. On Wednesday, a Russian missile attack resulted in the death of two young women and a man, while nine others were wounded.
