A report from Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin on the Telegram messaging app stated that two French volunteers were killed in a Russian attack in the town of Beryslav in southern Ukraine. Three other foreigners were also injured in the incident.
The regional prosecutors reported that Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack in the area around 4 p.m., leading to the casualties. Additionally, a Ukrainian national was wounded in the attack.
Although the details of the incident could not be independently verified by Reuters, it is noted that Russian forces frequently engage in shelling in parts of the Kherson region that are now under Ukrainian control.
Beryslav is situated on the western bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson region, which was previously occupied by Russian forces until late 2022.
Even though Ukrainian troops have established positions on the eastern bank, Russian forces continue heavy shelling of other parts of Kherson region from areas they still hold on the eastern side.
