SHAH ALAM: Action will be taken against participants of the RXZ Members 6.0 gathering in Terengganu if they flout the law, says Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general issued the warning as some 80,000 Yamaha RZX motorcyclists and enthusiasts were expected to gather for the two-day event at the Terengganu Motorsport Circuit in Kuala Nerus on Friday (Sept 13).

“The police and JPJ officials have met up with the organisers of the gathering and laid out conditions for the event as part of our preemptive action.

“If laws are broken, we will be forced to take action,” he told reporters at a press conference at the Selangor JPJ here on Thursday (Sept 12).

He said the JPJ officers would be on hand with police to monitor the gathering which would take place this Friday and Saturday.

Controversy arose during last year’s gathering when a large number of motorcycles were seized with action taken against their owners.

This came following a dragnet carried by the police and JPJ by setting up several roadblocks.

Meanwhile, Aedy Fadly acknowledged that the gathering was a state event that the JPJ did not intend to hamper.

“We are not out to find fault but to ensure that regulations are followed.

“My advice to participants is to follow the rules because prior action had been taken to meet up with the organisers,” he added.

He said that this was to ensure the safety of the participants and other road users.
