KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Sebli, the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, announced that both courts are continuously working on digitalisation improvements to ensure a smooth delivery system. The Integrated Court System (ICS) has undergone redevelopment through the e-Kehakiman Sabah and Sarawak (eKSS) project in 2023. According to Abdul Rahman, the newly enhanced system aims to meet the evolving needs of the legal community and the general public. Constructive feedback from stakeholders is welcomed to further refine and optimize the digital infrastructure.

The Sabah and Sarawak Legal Year 2024 was opened by Abdul Rahman at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) and he expressed his appreciation for the significant improvements noticed in the physical infrastructure of court buildings during his visits to various courts in Sabah and Sarawak. This includes the recent repair works at the Tawau and Kuching Courts. 17 new vehicles for use in the mobile court programs in Sabah and Sarawak were provided by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude for this.

Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof, the Sabah Attorney-General, pledged to continue fighting for all Sabah rights contained under the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63). She emphasized that the journey is far from over and the commitment to justice, autonomy, and the welfare of the people remains resolute. The State Attorney-General’s Chambers also upholds the law and safeguards the interests of the state. Earlier, Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat led a 1km march for the opening of Sabah and Sarawak Legal Year 2024, which was joined by Abdul Rahman, Nor Asiah, and 570 legal practitioners from Sabah and Sarawak. The march began from the Sabah Hakka Cultural Centre to the SICC.
