    According to Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Sarawak has received RM8.7 billion from tourism so far in the current year. Lawan, who serves as the state’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, noted that this revenue is a result of tourists visiting Sarawak.

    He emphasized the importance of tourism to the state, stating, “One of the ministries that contributes a rather big part of Sarawak’s revenue is the Tourism Ministry. This is because when tourists come to visit Sarawak, the spillover is there.”

    Lawan also revealed that Sarawak has set a target of four million tourist arrivals for this year.

    He pointed out that the RM8.7 billion in tourism revenue is a significant contribution to the state’s income. This underscores the economic impact and value of tourism to Sarawak’s overall financial health.
