Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia and France have recently signed a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance their collaboration in the energy sector, primarily focusing on the utilization of clean and renewable energy sources, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday.
In an official joint statement released by the SPA, following the meeting between Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman and French Minister of Economy Agnes Pannier-Runacher, it was acknowledged that energy plays a crucial role in the long-term partnership between the two nations.
The agreement between Saudi Arabia and France outlines a strategic plan for their cooperation in the development of hydrogen and electricity generated from renewable resources.
Recognizing the significance of clean hydrogen as an essential fuel, both countries have united in their objective to foster sustainable economic progress while effectively combating the adverse impacts of climate change.
Furthermore, the two nations have also committed to collaborating on initiatives that enhance energy efficiency and reinforce their efforts in the peaceful and secure application of nuclear energy. This includes the management of radioactive waste and nuclear applications.
In addition to these initiatives, Saudi Arabia and France have agreed to pool their resources and expertise to explore innovative means of producing hydrogen in the most efficient and competitive manner possible. They will also strive to promote the use of hydrogen across various sectors, such as industry, power generation, and buildings.
To ensure the success of their joint efforts, both countries have expressed their full support for the establishment of a dedicated task force.
