MELAKA: Students express excitement over the ‘hotel-like’ toilet facilities in their schools, courtesy of the Education Ministry’s ongoing initiative to upgrade toilets at national schools nationwide.

11-year-old Mumtaz Nur Ain Muhammad Amir, a pupil of SK Padang Temu, stated that the school’s toilet was previously closed due to clogged sewer lines and broken pipes. However, the upgrade has eliminated the dread and she and her friends are now looking forward to taking a toilet break in the pleasant new environment.

“This new toilet is very pleasant and I am grateful for the efforts of our teachers to make us feel comfortable. We now have a greater reason to keep the toilet clean,” said Mumtaz Nur Ain.

Mumtaz Nur Ain’s classmate Sofia Indah Irdina Shahrizan, 11, expressed her delight over the newly upgraded school toilet, emphasizing that it is now clean and comfortable to use.

“As a school prefect, I will make sure that students who are on duty (to clean the toilets) always follow the set time to ensure that this toilet is always clean,” she said.

12-year-old Muhammad Rayyan Nafiz Hesham, a student at SK Telok Mas, believes the toilet makeover will encourage students to be more prudent when using the facilities. The Year Six student noted that the previous state of the toilet was quite filthy with many broken fixtures.

12-year-old Muhammad Alif Imran Abdullah from SK Duyong was pleased with the fresh look and new features of the school’s toilet, describing it as very comfortable to use without any unpleasant odors.

“To ensure it is always in good condition, we’ll remind each other to always keep the toilet clean and follow the rules,” he said.

16-year-old Nur Syahira Adnan of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bukit Baru, stated that she and her friends no longer need to resist the urge to use the toilets at the school due to the previous unpleasant conditions, thanks to the facility being spruced up.

Muhammad Adnan Haqimi Abdul Rahim, also 16 and from the same school, shared that the toilet is now more functional and comfortable, motivating students to keep it clean.

“So from now on, I hope all my friends will use it wisely and not vandalise it,” he said.- Bernama
