All candidates from Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional who are running for the 56 state assembly seats have gathered in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya. The event took place at the Dewan Raja Muda Musa and was attended by Selangor PKR chairman Datuk Amirudin Shari as well as representatives from the DAP, Amanah, and Barisan Nasional.
The purpose of the gathering was for Amirudin to share his plans for Selangor for the next five years if both Pakatan and Barisan are elected to form the state government after the polls. Selangor Amanah chief Izham Hashim emphasized in his speech that the collaboration between the two coalitions is not only beneficial for the state, but also for the entire nation.
Gobind Singh, the DAP counterpart to Izham, stated that the collaboration is necessary for stability and for a government that respects the people’s mandate. He praised Amirudin’s leadership over the past five years and highlighted that Selangor remained strong even during federal-level conflicts.
Gobind also mentioned that in the last few days of campaigning, Pakatan and Barisan members worked together and campaigned as a unified front. Selangor Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin added that despite skeptics claiming that collaboration between the two coalitions would be tough at the grassroots level, there has been strong cooperation and shared ideas among their supporters on the ground.
Megat Zulkarnain also emphasized that the collaboration between Pakatan and Barisan is not merely symbolic or to deceive the people, but a genuine unity government. He called for an end to hate and slander in politics.
