HP Malaysia has unveiled its latest gaming laptop lineup for 2023, featuring the Omen 16 and Victus 16 models. Both laptops are equipped with the latest generation AMD and Intel processors, as well as Nvidia RTX 40-series graphic cards.
The Victus 16, positioned as the entry-level gaming laptop, offers customization options with a 13th-generation Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series processor and an RTX 4070 laptop graphic card. The base configuration includes an Intel Core i5-13500HX, an RTX 3050 laptop GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 144Hz 1080p display, priced at RM4,399. The alternative AMD configuration is priced slightly lower at RM4,149 and features a Ryzen 5 7640HS with an RTX 3050 laptop GPU and 16 GB of DDR RAM.
The Victus 16 boasts a 16.1-inch display with options ranging from 1080p to 1440p and a refresh rate of 144Hz to 240Hz, depending on the chosen model. Both the Intel and AMD versions come with a 1080p webcam, Bang and Olufsen audio tuning, and an RGB backlit laptop keyboard with a number pad.
For those seeking a more premium option, the Omen 16 offers higher specifications with either a Core i9 13900HX or a Ryzen 9 7940H processor and a laptop RTX 4070 graphic card. The base configurations include an i5-13500HX for the Intel version and a Ryzen 5 7640HS for the AMD version, both featuring a laptop version of the RTX 3050 GPU.
The Omen 16 features two Thunderbolt USB type-C ports, two USB type-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ45 port, a charging barrel port, and a headphone microphone combo port for inputs and outputs in the Intel version. The AMD version swaps out the ThunderBolt ports for two USB Type-C ports instead.
Like the Victus 16, the Omen 16 comes with a 16.1-inch display ranging from 1080p to 1440p, with a refresh rate of 144Hz to 240Hz depending on the model. The Omen 16 chassis design includes four vents for improved airflow and cooling, positioned at the rear.
The Omen 16 is priced from RM6,899 onwards, with the highest-end models priced at RM10,999 for the Intel version (Core i9 13900HX) and RM8,999 for the AMD version (Ryzen 9 7940H), both equipped with an RTX4070. Purchasers of the Omen 16 before Aug 31 will also receive a free HyperX headset worth RM169.
In addition to the Omen 16, HP teased the upcoming release of the Omen Transend 16, which will feature a laptop edition of the RTX4080, either a Core i9 or Ryzen 9 processor, and a price of RM10,999. The company claims that the Transend 16 is its slimmest and lightest gaming laptop, weighing less than 2.1kg in its lightest configuration, and offering a display capable of up to 240Hz refresh rates and a 16:10 aspect ratio.
