According to police in the state of Saxony, several individuals lost their lives and others were injured in a tragic bus crash on the A9 motorway near Leipzig in eastern Germany on Wednesday.
The authorities mentioned on social media platform X that “Several people were fatally injured in the serious accident on the A9 motorway. There are numerous casualties.”
Reports from local media indicated that five individuals had died when a Flixbus went off the road on the busy A9 motorway, ultimately overturning.
Police stated that the road heading towards Munich had to be closed down, as images from the scene depicted ambulances and helicopters responding to the incident.
Flixbus stated, “The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known,” and assured that they were collaborating with emergency services to ascertain what transpired.
A total of 53 passengers and two drivers were onboard the coach, which was en route from Berlin to Zurich.
