A store that sells kitchenware and plastic products was engulfed in flames, resulting in the destruction of four vehicles in Taman Seri Duyong 2 in Melaka in the early hours of Saturday morning (Feb 10).

According to Senior Fire Superintendent Operations Commander II Muhammad Izwan Arief Mat Nor, a team of 35 firefighters was dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at around 12:20 am on Saturday.

“Upon arrival at the location just nine minutes later, it was discovered that 80% of a 70×250-square-foot semi-permanent building had been destroyed by the fire,” he stated in a press release.

“The store is believed to have been closed at the time of the incident. Additionally, the blaze caused damage to four vehicles: an MPV, a car, a lorry, and a van.

Providing further details, Muhammad Izwan Arief explained that the fire was put out around 3:40 am. The operation was carried out by the Bukit Katil Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Padang Temu, Melaka Tengah, Ayer Keroh and Tangga Batu Fire and Rescue Stations.

He also stated that the operation concluded at 1:17 pm once the fire was fully extinguished, and there were no remaining safety hazards. – Bernama
